UCLA FFAFSA Dealine Leniency

Hey

Congratulations to everyone who was admitted yesterday.

I was checking my awards estimates and was really disappoint to see I didn't get any nonfederal grants (Cal grants). The most likely reason for this is that I turned in my FAFSA on March 11 (post-deadline). What's strange is that every other school (D, SD, B) has granted me over 10k in Cal Grants. Only LA didn't have them.

I was wondering if perhaps there might be some delay in processing financial aid, or it's just that the deadline disqualified me for Cal Grants.

And if the latter is the case, how lenient do you think they would be. I know it's called 'dead'line for a reason...but I don't think I can turn down other schools in good conscience if LAs almost 16k more expensive.

I turned mine in 3 days late and they gave me 8k grants and said “it was turned in on time”.

financial aid is somewhat negotiable, you have to go to ucla and talk to them. Outa high school I was able to get more money from usc, ucsd, uci and nyu. Good luck.

Thanks. But yeah this is freakif me out. Especially after the freak out over admission, now freak out over affordability
