I was very pleased with ours, got it last light. It was much more than I was expecting and we are greatly relieved. No where near out NPC estimation. Need to check on a few things to verify but overall it was a much welcomed package.

Just to be clear, when you say “No where near ou(r) NPC estimation…” you mean you got more than the NPC estimate indicated. So you had the exact opposite experience as @summer20, and @Moonmaid was right in between.

It seems pretty obvious that is what you are saying, but I figured given the discussion so far, it was best to be crystal clear.

Yes, we were awarded more than th NPC estimated. I’m not sure what contributed to that? Maybe user error on my part?

Who knows. I take them at their word that they try their best to provide an accurate estimate, but I guess there are enough variables that it can have some swings both ways. For you it was a welcome surprise, for summer20 clearly a very unwelcome one.

But combined with the Tuition Exchange, that must make the decision pretty final now, I would think.

Pretty much a done deal! I’m amazed at how everything has worked out and grateful since his #2 school was no where near as interesting to him. So now I hope it lives up to his expectation and he loves being there as much as he’s imagining!

Has anyone else who was accepted EA and filled their forms out on time still waiting on a FA determination?

@stlbballmom I am!

I’m back! Just found out that D got $18k in financial aid scholarship plus the $5500 federal loan, so not writing off Tulane just yet (not quite the Tuition Exchange we had hoped for but…) Working through the numbers to compare to all the other schools before make final decision. Quite happy and surprised to get so much more than we had thought…

That’s really great! The thing I keep telling my son is he needs to consider applying to be an RA Sophomore year so we can eliminate that housing cost too! Again, not a given, and it’s a lot to take on responsibility wise, but consider it.

I just want to check in too. It seems that there was a pretty significant error in the value of my family’s assets. My parents provided documentation to verify the correct information and the financial aid office is supposed to get back to me next week. I really have my fingers crossed this all works out. After visiting this past week I know Tulane is where I really want to be next year.

I was given an initial financial aid package. They asked for our 2013 tax returns, which we just provided today. Does anyone have any idea of how long it will take them to get back to me about my final reward? I’m very nervous because our reported income has significantly increased. Most of my aid was in the form of a large Tulane Scholarship. What do you think they’re going to do?

Just to be clear, when you say your aid was in the form of a “large Tulane Scholarship” was this a merit scholarship or do you mean a need-based grant? I suspect the latter, but I wanted to be sure.

If I am right, your increase in income might affect your package. Is there language in the package they gave you that says it can be changed depending on your 2013 finances? I just am not very familiar with the details of these things, but it does seem to me that if your actual 2013 income is sufficiently different from whatever estimate you supplied, it would impact the award.

Keep us informed.

Yes it was a need based grant that was titled “Tulane Scholarship” (but not a merit scholarship). They do say that adjustments may be made depending on supplemental information. Do you have any idea how long it will take them to get back to me after sending these recent tax returns?

I can only speak from experience. Once our w2’s were entered into the system our financial aid did go down. We also have another student in college and were told once she graduates our aid disappears. You will want to speak to your financial counselor regarding the particulars of your situation. Good luck

I don’t think it will take them too long to get back to you, because of course you have to make a final decision by May 1. My guess is it will probably take them a week to 10 days to get back to you. Only a guess though.

I hope you’re right & it doesn’t take too long…I’m going crazy! Thank you for your input!

Well, I just heard back from them-pretty quickly. I’m thrilled to say that it all worked out! They reduced the amount of the financial aid package by a small amount, but still left me with a good amount if grant money. So… I am now officially part of the Tulane family, and I couldn’t be happier!!!

That is spectacular! Congrats to all and welcome to Tulane!!
