Compared to last few years, very few people have reported receiving the email this time. I wonder what’s the reason,.
Does anyone know how much time do we have before these emails are no longer sent?
Congrats @juniormathwiz!
Has anyone in California or the west coast in general got anything yet?
I don’t think it is related to acceptance at all… my e mail is just for financial aid like other users have stated…i believe it is generic and does not correlate to acceptance…if you have financial info that need to be updated then that is probably why you are getting e mail. It is just coincidence that one user had a likely letter followed by this type of e mail. and likely letters for Dartmouth are sent by snail mail as far as I know because I know someone who got one.
So those of you who did not get e mail about fin aid don’t worry. I honestly don’t think it is related at all.
Yeah I’m from the UK and I got the email today. I doubt it means anything. Don’t want to get my hopes up haha…
OK. I had to wait until I stopped laughing before I replied to the BetterThanBest post of 2/21 re the purported correlation between financial aid emails and acceptances. BTB, if your data is from this site (and I do not see how you could have any other source), you are already limited to people who are self-reporting. You have no information about how many people actually received such emails or how many people in that group were accepted or how how many people were accepted who did not receive such emails or anything else that is relevant. Even if I were to accept the implicit premise that the posters here are a representative sample, there is no way of knowing that some anonymous poster who claimed to have received a financial aid email and then have been been admitted is even telling the truth. I seriously doubt that Dartmouth has given you access to its records so that you could do a rigorous examination of financial aid emails versus acceptance decisions (which would undoubtedly be a gross violation of federal law in any event), and I will repeat my view that no one should pay any attention to whether or not they receive a request for additional information. Kids, chill. The decisions will come. I know this is a difficult time, but trying to read tea leaves will not help.
Agreed.
Then, if someone will explain it to me, why have people who haven’t even submitted their CSS not gotten this missing document email? Not only this year, check last year’s result thread. I didn’t submit my returns and CSS last year and didn’t get an email. Never. Idk, it seems common sense to me that they’re asking this info from people whom they’re considering. How would you explain that @AboutTheSame and @juniormathwiz?
If it is false, there won’t be anyone happier than me because my best buddy hasn’t received the email yet. And yes, he’s missing documents.
Then it is really time to let it go, move forward and have a great experience at the college that you are attending as you no longer have a dog in this fight!!
As I said, I’m tracking this thing simply cuz my best friend has applied to Dartmouth. @sybbie719.
The best thing that you can do for your best friend not to cause any additional angst to what is already a stressful process.
Keep in mind is not the school’s job to be mind readers. People say all of the time that they are applying for aid, then run their numbers through the net price calculator and then realize that they are to going to be eligible and there is no need to fill out the paperwork.
People who truly know that they need money to make it happen would be adhering to deadlines and submit their paperwork instead of waiting and hoping someone sends them a letter
I don’t know @sybbie719: I know people who didn’t submit a thing AND received email, and other who didn’t. It seems fairly clear to me why only few people were emailed. And in fact, most who got the email were accepted. And others were rejected (fwiw, all were Indians). Anyway, I won’t argue further.
Received Dartmouth likely letter and financial info request
@Gigantor: When did you receive the likely letter? Same question for Fin info request.
Letter was dated feb 11th
financial aid information by email several times last week
2nd wave came out dated Feb. 27th!
@Oberyn Did you get one?
Yep!
Oooh well done!!! Must be a relief haha.
@BetterThanBest I know you took a gap year. did you apply to Dartmouth again?
Are you saying I should be worried because I didn’t receive a FA email?
