Financial Aid Notifications

Hey everybody, has anybody heard any word about financial aid? I sent all my materials in February and still haven't heard back. Before making this thread, I e-mailed the financial aid office to see if everything is running smoothly on my end, but I just want to make sure I'm not alone. Thanks!

You are definitely not alone. I haven’t gotten anything yet and it seems that sometime in April is when the financial aid comes out. (I read somewhere that it was early April)

Same boat, only scholarship and honors college stuff

Did anyone receive anything from FinAid? My D’s SOLAR still has no information.

We were told “end of the week” yesterday. We apologize for the delay.

Chris

Thanks Chris that’s fantastic news!

Thank You Chris!

They are now on SOLAR, just an FYI. (As of Friday end of day).

Does anyone know the actual COA for stonybrook? I got around 21K in aid.

This page says $21,262 assuming a double dorm room and a silver meal plan.
[Stony Brook University - Financial Aid](Cost | Financial Aid)

Maybe Chris can confirm this?

EDIT-Just realized this is 2012-2013 so it should increase by a few hundred for 2013-2014.

Chris, wanted to check with you…On Friday my D’s To Do list got updted with a request to send a prove of Citizenship, so I faxed the copy of her US Passport. Do you know how long it usually takes to update a system? We are ready to pay a Deposit, just want to see a FA options, before. Thansk a lot for your help!

My daughter went on to Solar and it only shows 2,000 WISE scholarship, no other aid. Our estimated need was around 15K. Is that all she will be getting, 2K?. Has the financial aid been updated and that is it? She is getting more money from private schools which makes there COA lower and she would then choose one of those schools. I am surprised that since she was accepted into the women in science and enginnering program they would not make Stony Brook more financially viable to attend.

@borghugh, it hasn’t updated yet for you. Don’t worry about it, I’m sure you’ll get something soon.

Wait, I am a NY resident and I have not received my financial aid package. Did I do something wrong?

Figure on tuition going up a few hundred bucks for next year, yes. That’s been the trend.

As far as financial aid questions – it’s entirely individual. All I can recommend is that you contact Financial Aid directly (631-632-6840) and they can walk you through it.

marly71- Typically only a few days, but if it impacts financial aid, contact them directly to confirm.
