Financial Aid Package Consistency

Notre Dame sent me a FA package and it has been slightly less favorable than what the NPC gave me. The overall costs are just barely over the threshold that my parents are willing to pay, so hopefully I can make it up. My question is that the online ND FA website says that I should expect the costs to rise each year. Can anyone (current students especially) tell me if their financial package went up each year, how much it went up by if at all, and if ND helped by increasing scholarships/loans/etc...?

I'm in the lower-middle class income bracket and my parents were expecting to pay around $6,000 but are willing to pay around $10,000 for my first year. However, they aren't ready for me to accept Notre Dame until they know that the financial aid package for my family won't change (we don't expect any significant future income change) or if Notre Dame will increase my scholarships/grants in order to match the rise in costs. They are afraid that, with the rising costs each year, my senior year at ND will force them to pay more than they can afford.

I still have not made my decision because my parents and I are still unsure of the financial package. Please respond ASAP.

What I have seen is the aid stays the same.

Dad, can you explain a bit more? Does the aid keep up with the increased costs or does it stay the same and my parents and I have to make up the increased costs? Do you have a S or D at ND or are you an alumni?

I’m a grad and a father. The grant ND gave for Year 1 stayed the same in following years. Tuition/R&B sadly went up.

From everything I have seen and read, the costs grow more than the aid (at every school). Can you find other opportunities for campus / summer work, local scholarships, so that you can meet the rising cost? Good luck.

It would be helpful if other with experience receiving University of Notre Dame grants from the Freshman thru the Junior/Senior years replied to this thread. Thank you

if the aid ends up not working out and you cannot go, give me your spot on the waiting list!!! lol, if only it worked that way

I am a rising junior at Notre Dame. My EFC for my sophomore year was almost identical to my EFC for my freshman year. My aid package actually increased by a slightly larger amount than the tuition, room, and board cost increased from my freshman year to my sophomore year. I’m still waiting to hear what it will be for my junior year. If y’all would like, I can let you know when I hear what it will be for next year.

@sasbmar if you are still around I would love to hear about you FA package for junior and senior year–if you have it yet. Thanks!!
