i got my financial aid for fall, which i already knew what that was gonna be, and it still what i thought it was gonna be for fafsa, but i didnt get as much for the subsidized stafford loan as i thought…, but i still did not recieve anything for summer yet, which is what i really want to know. so i guess ill have to just keep waiting.

oh and ty janna u are very helpful. :)

I guess they did everyone’s for Fall since mine is showing up too and this is my first year at FSU.

Oh and FYI, the “Our records show you have no Financial Aid information in our system.”
and “blah blah blah please check back in 24 hours” errors appear more often than they don’t, so don’t worry about it. It gets really frustrating (especially when you get an email saying one or more of your awards have been changed and it still won’t let you see it).

Got mine back and looks like more of the same.

the financial representative told me to check back with her tomorrow she said for sure I should have it by the afternoon and she said those who apply early have a better chance in getting the need they want(which i know is pretty obvious since its a first come first serve basis) but i’m so anxious i just can’t wait any longer ahhh! :D

yeah I checked this morning at like 6 AM (before I left for school) and I saw my fall award. I got everything i need… with a loan… I was really hoping to avoid loans but without it im short like 2.5 grand a year. Im hoping for a First Generation Grant… and also they only offered me an unsubsidized Perkins load… with a full Pell, shouldn’t I be elgible for a subsidized stafford? I sent them an email… hoping for a reply by tommorow.

I checked just now and it says "The Financial Aid Student Toolkit is currently down for processing. Please check back in 24 hours. We apologize for any inconvenience. " I am not sure if I am in the right place to check for financial aid but thats what showed up.

@Estelle yeah your in the right place it tends to do that from time to time. Just keep checking… like early morning, late night, mid-afternoon.

I think a Perkins loan is better than a Stafford loan: less interest and better terms.

Don’t anybody go throwing a party after seeing your financial award today, all of it is tentative and conditional. Tuition for next year I don’t think has been finalized–will probably go up, Bright Futures will probably be reduced, Pell awards will maybe be reduced, summer Pell grants are likely going to end, SEOG grants will probably be ended, Academic Competiveness Grants and SMART grants sunset this summer, loan terms for Stafford loans will probably change. The perfect storm? All this isn’t good for students who want to get in and stay in college.

Also, word to the wise… Do NOT reject your loans yet. Don’t reject your loans until all of your scholarships and outside aid have accumulated. Then, when they start taking things off they’ll take the loans off first. I was immensely screwed over last year because I rejected the loans and then received scholarships. They took all of those away plus a dollar…

Tallalassie - Where are you getting your information? Nothing that I have seen backs up what you are saying about Bright Futures being lowered (I have already seen confirmation that there are no changes to Bright Futures for 2011-2012) and that PELL will be changed for Fall or stopped for summer? I have no information that lends to the validity of these claims. Please provide links or info to back up these claims. Thanks! :)

Call me naive and uninformed but I didn’t realize that I had to take out a loan. My mom doesn’t want me to do that. She suggested I find an apartment in walking distance to FSU so I wouldn’t have to pay the high cost of room & board. I’m hoping this would mean I wouldn’t need the loan.

^^Are you kidding me? Everything I said is in the daily newspapers, on TV, all over the internet–just google in the news any topic or program I mentioned and you can get the latest lowdown. The Florida state legislature is in session now working on budget, the US Congress and the White House are working on fed budget including education programs. Everything education program moneywise is fair game and subject to change just like I described in my post.

Tallalassie - No, I was not kidding. I was respectfully requesting your backup for these claims. As a mother of three I am constantly watching, researching and googling “real” news for “real” information to back up any claims that may affect the education of my children. If you cannot return the respect I offered you I am obviously in the wrong place. I will bow out of this forum now as I don’t deal with people who can’t substantiate what they say, nor point to valid, accurate information for their broad-based statements. I hope that your financial aid is all that you need it to be and that no one is as rude to you as your post to me was.

The possibility of reductions to the Bright Futures Scholarship and increases in the qualifying standards are currently being entertained by the Florida legislature this session. Here are but a couple of links:

I got my bright futures medallion as expected, but also got a $1800 grant from FSU(unexpected), a loan that will cover my summer tuition which I would have been unable to afford, and an offer for a work study program! Really excited!
