Financial Aid packages hard stats

I'd be curious to get an idea of the financial aid packages offered by Carleton for those knowledgeable about their family income range and financial aid package offered. Any input on this would be appreciated.

$100K - $150K / Fin'l aid pkg?

$150K - $200K / Fin'l aid pkg?

$200K+ / Fin'l aid pkg?

The Class of 2012 Profile gives a breakdown of financial aid by income level.

Household size and number of students in college make a big difference too, so keep that in mind. The more dependents (and in particular the more of them in college), the lower the expected family contribution will be.

S1 received a very reasonable FA package from Carleton, that looks to be at least competitive if not better than the other offers he has so far.

Does Carleton have a good track record for maintaining the same level of FA for all four years, assuming of course that the student’s financial circumstances are unchanged? I’ve never heard that Carleton pulls the rug out from under its students, but I’d hate to find out about this when it’s too late.

Also, the only forseeable change in our financial circumstances at this time (knock on wood) will be that my second child will start college when S1enters his third year of college. Can any Carleton students or parents tell me if Carleton provides additional aid when a second child starts college?

Thanks in advance for any responses. After months of waiting, things are starting to move fast at this point, and I’m starting to feel a bit overwhelmed!

My daughter will be graduating in June. Our experience has been that the same level of financial aid has been offered each year. This year my S started college (at another college) and Carleton definitely accomodated that change in their aid package. I have found the financial aid and business offices to be very easy to work with.

Good luck with your son’s decision!

We did not receive any grant aid for S1’s first 2 years though he had some private scholarships and worked work study (all four years and breaks too.) When our finances changed for his 3rd year adjustments were made and for this, his final year, when S2 is also attending a LAC there was a very significant increase from Carleton, all grant aid.
I think that they take care of their upperclassmen!
June 12th will be a big day!

Thanks for the reassuring words. And congratulations to firefly and NEValu for the upcoming graduation. That will be a day!
