Hi all! Has anyone heard when they will be posting need-based packages on UNC portal? The info acknowledging receipt of FAFSA and the EFC were posted weeks ago. Now it just has the year 2012 with no active link. Just wondering when that will post. We can't make any decisions until we see those numbers.

I think financial aid comes out late March or early April. I would lean towards early April because the CSS Profile is released on the first.

Waiting on FA, too. So far UNC is the favorite. The question is whether it affordable for an OOS student.

I’m hoping it’s soon. We are OOS too. UNC is S’s top choice but he was offered merit aid at private colleges. I’m hoping FA and the lower (compared to private) tuition will make UNC at least comparable in price.

I just received an e-mail from UNC stating that my “financial aid package is ready for [my] review.” After logging in and following the directions to see the package, however, I see the same old “Aid Application in Progress” message.

Anyone else get the e-mail from the Financial Aid office? Are you able to access your information?

I am having trouble finding the link to the financial aid award. I followed the email’s instructions, but I do not see the Connection Carolina Student Center link. Any help?

Go to your Connect Carolina Student Center and click on Account Inquiry. Something new is showing up there.

Weird. In my Connect Carolina Student Center there isn’t even a finance section…just Personal Information and Admissions.

^Same here. Glad to know it’s not just me.

Lutherjw, my son’s account is showing the same thing as you. He got the same email. I did check the account inquiry though and it is showing an amount for fall and spring. No explanation of what it is though.

One more message. After clicking on Account Inquiry, if you click on the Last tab, “anticipated aid”, it explains what the amounts listed on the Account Inquiry are. In our case, they are unsubsidized loans.

Yeah, under the “anticipated aid” tab I am seeing two amounts for “Institutional Grants.”

Shouldn’t there be more than that though? I was expecting a breakdown of grants, loans, work-study, summer savings, etc. Is it possible that I only qualify for grants?

I guess I should just wait until the “View Financial Aid” link is fixed.

I am certain you would qualify for loans too. I think we just need to wait.

i got an email saying my package is up but i cannot figure out for the life of me how to check it…where is this connect carolina link they keep telling me about…?

the student center link? where is that?! I WANNA KNOW IF I CAN AFFORD UNC OR NOT LKASJETOAESIH

@cammac: its on the left hand side of portal. I have logged into S’s myUNC and it still has the same inactive link. Did it come up recently for everyone? S is sleeping so I don’t know if he got the email. Either way we still don’t know anything. :(

Visit my.unc.edu and sign in to the MyUNC Campus Portal.

From your MyUNC homepage, click the link to the ConnectCarolina Student Center.

Once within your personal Student Center, locate the section entitled “Finances”. This section will include a sub-category for Financial Aid. Next, select “View Financial Aid” and choose the relevant Aid Year (example: the Academic Year running from Aug 2010 through May 2011 is referred to as Aid Year 2011).

I am quite uneasy because my Student Center does not even have a “Finances” section…so how can I even check on my status?

im actually relieved that everyone else is having the same issues i am…was worried for a little bit if they just didnt offer me anything lol

Should be working now (it is for me at least).

Apparently I only qualify for Institutional Grants and Federal Work-Study. Nothing in the way of subsidized loans.

still no aid package I really hope they release them by the end of the month
