How does everyone like their financial aid packages?

have you gotten your finaid packet already?

I got the big envelope, and they said that the rest should come in a day or two. Does anyone know (perhaps current students) how the financial aid offers work? Does the package consist mostly of loans, or are there also grants and scholarships?

Thanks.

where are you located? i wonder how long it will take to get to me down south...lol.

what is the Cornell Tradition Fellowship Program? is that part of the Financial Aid package?

I live in the Midwest. They used express priority mail.

I haven't gotten mine neither. I am really anxious about it because Berkeley is giving me full ride ($26,000/year)and if Cornell doesn't offer a good aid, I have to choose Berkeley over it even though I really want to go to the East Coast.

I havent gotten it yet, but I am hoping, praying, wishing and asking to be blessed for a great fin-aid package. If my memory serves me, EOP/HEOP have no loans or work-study for the first year!

One of the letters I received with the package stated that I got a financial aid paackage that covers Tuition and Room and Board (lodging and meals).

I live in Northern NY state (not too far from ithaca), got the acceptance package on Friday but still haven't gotten finaid.

good...it seems like this year i get everything a week later than everyone else. glad to know you're close and haven't gotten it. I'll check the mail tomorrow though :)

yeah it sucks how financial aid kinda determines where a lot of people are going....it should be here by tomorrow or tuesday right

Got mine in the mail today. I live in MD. It was a little under 7k (including loans and workstudy)... still way too expensive unfortunately. So we'd have to pay about 43k a year. :(

I'm from Guam, and I'm waiting for all my fat envelopes from all of my colleges.

Financial aid will be one of the deciding factors in deciding which college I will attend. I hope Cornell at least matches Penn's $22,560, so it won't come down to financial aid but academics.

cawaiigirl, congrats on the full ride to Berkeley. I wish I got a full ride somewhere.

UMich gave me a miniscule financial aid package, so it all comes down to Cornell's financil aid.

Got mine-live in CA. Although EFC was around 30k, didn't qualify for ANY aid whatsoever. I'm guessing this is not a mistake and somewhere in the CSS profile my family looks a lot richer than we are (we don't own a business, farm, etc. by the way). Since I know we can't afford 50K a year (we have three other kids in college or recently graduated from college), Berekeley Regents looks a lot more enticing now.

Cornell grants 100% need. They must have seen something that made u seem wealthy. I'd appeal for more aid if I really wanted to go if I were u. (especially if a comparable institution offered u more money)

what's the best way to appeal for more aid without making it seem like begging?

Well that's wat it is. Just be formal about it but let them know that you will go if u get more aid. Then show other schools that you got into that gave u a lot of aid. It worked at the college I'm going to now (I'm a GT). [It worked by a lottttt lol]. Show to them that it is the perfect school for u, that you will make use of many of the opportunities and clubs there, ect...

well, I really can't compare financial aid packages because my other option would be the University of Florida, which is free to me. I really want to go to Cornell, but I believe that my parents would be much happier if Cornell gave me a bit more aid.

so, another day gone by. anyone get their FA packets yet?

I haven't received anything yet but I hope the large envelope will arrive tomorrow. I'm very nervous since I really depend on the financial aid offer.
