Financial Aid Question

Is there any way to appeal my financial aid award or request more aid? The aid Tulane is giving me is good, however it is roughly 10,000 less than the other school I am considering. As of right now, with the amount of aid they have given me, I could not attend Tulane. Therefore, is there any other way for me to receive financial aid from the school? I have been applying for outside scholarships but have not received any, and applying to more would help in the long run, but I have to decide a school by May 1st.

Basically, I’m asking if there is any way for them to re-look at my family’s financial aid info in order to provide me with more aid.

Note: I do know about the “Reconsideration Form for Parents of Dependent Students,” however my family has not undergone a significant change of income or any event related.

I think all you can do is tell them where things stand and see if they can come up with more. Just lay it out for them. I think their willingness to do more will depend a lot on how admissions is shaping up. If the class looks like it will be the usual 1550 or so, I doubt they will be very flexible. It sounds harsh, but it is just reality. Besides, you have nothing to lose.

I appealed and they gave me a significant amount more money today. Part of that is because my parents made less this year than last year and they adjusted accordingly, but there’s at least some hope.
