So, I got my financial aid package back via. Gibson. It’s affordable (albeit, not my cheapest option), but I was wondering whether I should ask the financial aid office to re-evaluate my financial aid with my midterm report (it’s strong). I was also wondering whether they will reduce any of the aid I currently have if they look over my financial aid again. I’m handling financial aid for the most part by myself because I’m a first-generation student and my parents don’t really understand how any of this works, so I was wondering what approach I should take with this. I really do want to attend Tulane, but I’d like a bit more aid in order to feel confident in doing so.
Do you mind sharing what you were given? I’m waiting on my financial aid package. Applied Early Action. I can’t attend without significant aid.
Unless the school offers merit I don’t see how a strong midterm report would matter for financial aid. Colleges expect that the students they admit will continue to do well the rest of senior year.
Did you get a financial aid package or did you get merit money, or a mix of both? Your financial aid is not likely to change because of academic performance. Tulane does have a number of scholarships, and you can ask Admissions if you can be considered for more of them and if there is anything you can do now for such consideration. Be aware that if you have a mixed bag of merit money and financial aid, that merit can reduce need and the net result may be similar.
@mizchantal Sure, I was given 38k including federal work-study.
@austinmshauri The school offers merit aid.
@cptofthehouse Financial aid package. I didn’t get any merit because my academic performance throughout high school has been very inconsistent because of extenuating circumstances. My academic performance this year has been extremely strong (strongest year) so I was wondering whether I should contact the financial aid office about it; my school just send mid-year transcripts yesterday.
