I just got accepted and I am very excited! I have not received financial aid info yet and I am submitting the CSS now. Assuming everything is in on time can anyone give any insight on financial aid? I am low income and have an EFC of 0. I’ve seen info in the past that the net cost was pretty good for low income students and the average graduate debt isn’t bad. That said when I ran the NPC it said my estimated cost was 14,000. Can any current students or parents give any opinion on if this is accurate? That would be a huge reduction but I was hoping it would be under 10K and I’ve seen numbers that the net cost for under 30K family income was lower. I don’t want to sound entitled to great aid I’m just trying to get an idea of whether Sewanee will be an affordable option.
Our actual cost was less than the NPC, but that was due to a higher merit award. Sewanee has a reputation for giving good FA to lower income students. I hope it works out for you.
That’s good to hear! Thanks for the information. I submitted before the scholorship deadline. My SAT is above the 75% compared to previous years but my GPA is likely too low for merit. I’ll keep my fingers crossed.
My daughter got a Wilkins scholarship, so do you know whether Sewanee uses that scholarship as a way to decrease financial aid need, or is her scholarship a real “gift” that we can use toward our efc?
