Financial Aid Questions

In the common apps, we marked that we will apply to the financial aid for some colleges. We recently received emails from some of the colleges asking us to fill up the FAFSA or CSS forms. However we may not apply to financial aids to those colleges. Here are my questions:

1) Will this cause any issue in the admission decisions for the colleges?
2) Will these colleges think that we may not be interested in them if we marked for applying to financial aids but did not actually submit the aid forms?

Thanks!

If you don’t complete the financial aid forms, you will not be able to receive financial aid. That is that.

You might consider contacting the colleges for which you don’t need FA, and tell them that your circumstances have changed and that you will no longer require FA. At worst, this will turn the possible negative in Q2 into a positive.

BTW, a few poorly endowed colleges/universities look less kindly on ‘typical applicants’ who require FA. Happened to DD … fortunately it wasn’t her #1 choice. YMMV.
