no problem shrinkrap and thanks JC! i am still just in shock right now... i really didn't think i would be able to go to pepperdine but now i really think i am. my dream school!!! thank you GOD!!!

Hahaha you sound lik my D 2 years ago!

VERY disappointed. D received no merit $-just the usual offers of Plus loans for us and staffords for her. I am going to call FA office today. Her stats seems well within award $ for previous years......With S being a Spring 2009 acceptance ( no merit $ there) ......Truly at a loss for words. First school out of 9 with no merit offer at all.

Congratulations to all of you who got great packages-it is a wonderful school.

yeah i am also disappointed in my package. i got about 25k in scholarship and the rest in loan. that's still nowhere near enough. i will also be calling the fa office. good luck to everyone else.

We didn't get any email, perhaps because we didn't apply for financial aid. The did say D would still be considered for merit but oh well. 25k would be wonderful! Sorry it's not enough.

Wow! 25k seems like a good offer, but understandably the additional cost over4 years is a lot too.

^Yeah. I'm pretty sure that's the biggest sholarship they offer.

A 25K scholarship would be amazing for us. However, with TCOA at 49 (per FA section in daughter's email), I know that makes Pepperdine out of reach for many people. DH and I have written Scholarship committee to ask for additional info-it will be interesting to see if and how they respond.

I just received my financial aid letter...
it looks like I have about 20k in loans. The majority of it around 16k is the PLUS loan the other is 3500 with the subsidized loan. Is there any way I can make these loans lower??

JC, I remember I posted something about other privates giving me much more and you said if Pep. did not give me about the same, then I could possibly call the financial aid office? My EFC is INCREDIBLY low, therefore, my parents will not be able to pay these loans off easily, well even those that are well off...the loan is still pretty high. I'm just not sure what the best approach to all this would be. Would it be better if I called...or actually go to the campus? I live close enough to just go tomorrow..... I just hope if I contact them they won't tell me to "go somewhere else" because I've heard this happen to a few of my friends. Pepperdine is my number 1 choice. I visited Westmont (I only have to pay 5k per year in loans and the school is about 40k per year) this past weekend and it made me realize how much I wanted to be at Pep and how I felt like I absolutely belonged there. I hope there's something I can do...otherwise...I'm off to Westmont. :(

Looks like D got nothing. We have one more visit planned to Occidental (where she DID get some merit money), but I'm thinking she's going to end up at Duke. Good luck everone!

Umm...$42,000 in loans for me...how can they possible expect me to accept?

hsm39, Many kids from my D's school are looking forward to attending Westmont!

shrinkrap, westmont is definitely an awesome school as well. I have a few friends that go there now and a few that have graduated and they absolutely LOVE it! I went on there for the preview day back in November (or maybe it was October?) and I loved it as well, but I'm not sure if I could live in that environment for 4 years. I understand that wherever I end up, I'll ultimately be happy...but Westmont had such a retreat feel and I know I can only take that for so long. I've taken into consideration other pros and cons about both Pepperdine and Westmont, but when it came down to it Pepperdine just seems to be the school I feel like I belong to...I mean either way whatever happens...whether Westmont or Pepperdine I'm certain that my future has been planned out accordingly. But I pray I can do something about this pepperdine loan stuff! Ahh...

retreat feel! Love it!

I guess I didn't get anything, which is slightly disappointing. I'm holding out for the slight possibility that some merit scholarship is coming my way (because apparently other people I have talked to have gotten random merit scholarship notifications over the course of the past 2 weeks) but I doubt I'll get anything if I haven't heard yet. Now I have a really hard decision to make because although I will still be able to attend Pepperdine, is it really worth $200,000+ for an undergrad education, especially since I'm almost 100% positive that I'm going to attend grad/ law school?

I got $22,000 per year... so hard to say no to Pepperdine and go to either USC or NYU, who didn't give me any money :(

i called the financial aid office and they said that they don't do reevaluations until august, and they'll let you know about their deceision the first week of school in september.. and.. i'm sure as hell not going to pay the $750 acceptance fee and turn down the great financial assistance i received at uconn, which is a decent school, on the off chance that i may receive enough financial aid to attend pepperdine (and if i don't then i'll have to drop out and reapply for other schools in fall 2009 after wasting a year). it's kind of a twisted system, i think.

I got no money just loan offers. got about 30000 in merit at another school. I'm going there.

I called Financial Aid today about our D's loan only offer. Person I spoke with directed us to write to a committee via admissions-was told scholarship $ per se did not come via FA office.

This is very frustrating and confusing-if vickiibee was given the correct information, then our letter was a waste of time. I will call admissions tomorrow and see what they say.

Both of my sisters and a good friend of ours all got really good financial offers, so it looks like they'll all three be joining me at Pepperdine next year!
