Financial aid submission question

Hello All: hoping someone can answer this question…we sent in a completed FAFSA and CSS profile along with the IRS Data Retrieval tool.
The financial aid offices are backed up and did not answer or have space to leave a message on their voicemail today.
Do we still have to submit a full federal income tax return and schedules with all pages scanned in??

If the student’s submitted FAFSA has been chosen for verification (it will be stated on the SAR report), the student will have to provide a copy of the parents’ 2016 tax transcript and/or 2016 tax return. Colleges will contact the student via email, snail mail, or portal to inform you of what information is needed to complete the financial aid process. I hope this helps.

@dygibbs Thanks. We sent in the FAFSA, the CSS and did an IRS data retrieval but Villanova asks for a copy of the tax documents which seemed like a lot to scan the whole document to IDOC but I guess they want that too. We thought the IRS data retrieval would be in its place.

did you check your portal to see whether they have when they need?
I found out that I have to check and explain what they already have. It took a few days for the response though.

@annamom Thanks for replying and yes, it says that they are still waiting for the tax returns and W2 and IDOC. But they received FAFSA and CSS profile and IRS retrieval which I would think has the returns and W2’s but we can’t get someone to answer. Will try to call at a different time of day.

To scan in the whole return would be pages and pages.

@pago18: No, the FAFSA, CSS profile and the IRS retrival will not have the required W2 and the tax form that was completed and filed with the IRS. Please take the time to scan the pages and upload to IDOC. It can take a few days or more from the time you upload the documents to IDOC until Villanova receives them for processing, then additional time (at least a week or more) before you receive the award letter.

@dygibbs I appreciate all of your help. You seem quite knowledgeable in this realm and i just needed the reassurance:)

pago18: I understand. I’ve gone through the same verification process with S2014 and D2018. Just keep in mind that this is a busy time for admissions and financial aid offices, resulting in response delays. Good luck in your college endeavors!

@dygibbs Thanks so much and good luck to you too!

@pago18 Just to add something about the IDOC scan…if your tax return is too large you will not be able to scan it because there is a space limit for the scanned documents. Turn down the resolution when you try to scan. If that doesn’t work than you will have to mail it which adds days to the process. Good luck!

Thank you @pkchamp89. Will be so happy when all is done. haha

Yeah, countdown to Oct. and FAFSA 2019-2020. :-/

Ugh haha

It’s never done.

Just when I think I’m done The financial aid office needs more info. Ugh

It is never done.

You’ll have a short break before you need to start on next year’s documents. Then taxes. Rinse and repeat. Rinse and repeat.

@twoinanddone Ok I’m gearing up lol. And then two more kids to follow!

What exactly is an IDOC sheet? I think we sent everything else.

@pago18: IDOC is not a sheet. It’s the Institutional Documentation Service (IDOC), where the College Board collecs financial aid information (tax returns, W2’s, etc.) in behalf of participating colleges.
