Financial Aid Website

I have a quick question to those of you who have gotten accepted or rejected. I read somewhere that some of the accepted students have been given this line: https://fadata.amherst.edu/NetPartnerStudent to check upon their financial aid status. Some people on the other hand can’t log in. For those of you rejected, can you log in? Does this mean that those who are able to log in are accepted? Or is everyone able to log in?

Sorry, I can't totally answer your question, melly, but my son (accepted ED) can sometimes log onto that finaid site and sometimes can't get on. It is very unpredictable. I also don't know for sure that if the finaid office has input numbers and generated an aid package, that it necessarily would mean the student was accepted. Intuitively, it seems like it would be a good sign, but we don't really know how and when the FA does what it does. They evidently work separately from the admissions office, so it would be a good experiment for someone who got a rejection :( and who also applied for FA to try it and see if there was a finaid award sitting there in the event they'd been accepted.

Oh ok thanks 'rentof2. I have been able to log on, yet I haven't found a generated package, mainly b/c I'm still missing some forms, but thank you so much for the information.

The web site is not an indicator of your decision.

Quoting from <a href="http://www.amherst.edu/%7Efinaid/:%5B/url%5D">http://www.amherst.edu/~finaid/:</a></p>

"The College has recently implemented NetPartner software that permits students and applicants for admission to check the status of their financial aid applications on-line." (referring to the web site in question)

It is true that financial aid awards will be posted on the web site, but its original purpose is allowing students check if Amherst received all of their pertinent financial information.

Anyways, you should get your decision on Monday (soon!). Good luck!
