So I got my aid package today, and I was not offered any grants or scholarships in it (aside from the pell grant). I'm confused by this because I sent in all my documents and my efc was only approx. 3,000. Is this how it goes for everyone with NYU? Because paying 61k/year in loans is just as good as a rejection in my situation

Sorry to hear, it might be worth inquiring them about the offer. I believe merit is taken into account in NYU’s financial aid, which might explain it.

Which school in NYU did you get into?

NYU does not claim to meet need in any way, shape or form.

FA is not based primarily on FA, but how well admissions ‘ranked’ you when they accepted you. Students they really want get large FA packages, there’s a thread about FA at NYU at the top of the NYU page authored by myself, it answers your questions.
