Financial Aid

A few questions about the financial aid

In the award letter, when they say "standard budget" does that mean tuition +room and board only? or does it also include books and other allowances? (basically, does the standard budget = student budget)

If standard budget does indeed equal to student budget listed on the FA website. so according to the 2011-12 student budget
The Student Budget : Stanford University

the student budget is about 2k higher, will the FA go up proportionally?

so student budget on initial FA letters don’t include the tuition and room/board increases that were just voted on. last year, i think i got $2000 more aid and had to pay $200 more or something like that. they say that it should be all under additional aid (so it aid would increase but your contribution won’t), but I know if that actually happens.

student budget also includes books, travel, other (everything on the website)

haha… well it turns out the cost went from 55 to 57k and my aid was reduced by 2k.
Basically the parent contribution went up by 4k, and that can’t be covered by scholarships T_T

O well, I’m sure a summer job will cover that just fine.
