Financial aid

I'm an international student from Nigeria. I have every documents to apply, had 81 in toefl, 1270(quiet low) in SAT and graduated with a 3.1 from high sch. The only thing left is sources of funding my education. What sch will take me with scholarship ?

You should retake the SAT. Work with number2.com (it’s a website that helps you by targeting your weaknesses. it’s totally free.)
DO NOT take college classes or you’d be considered a transfer student (you can take “continuing education classes” like first aid, italian for beginners, or whatever your local continuing education program offers, not for credit and not at university level, but you can’t enroll and take classes at a university). International transfer students can’t get scholarships.
How much money can your family contribute each year?

I’m a freshman tho. Yea, I’m gonna retake it in may, I’m targeting 2000+ . So I cant make it to any sch this fall ? . Around $10k

Are you a freshman in college? In that case, virtually no US college will admit you with financial aid since financial aid for international transfers is virtually unheard of. There may be a few cases for super star students who ranked first in international academic competitions or national sporting events (if you’re a recognized soccer player for instance); in addition, some women’s colleges provide some relative scholarships even to international transfers but you’d nede a $50,000 scholarship and these colleges would need to see much higher scores/GPA (unless you “translated” your GPA and it’s not your actual GPA, just an approximation.)
Note that if you want to apply for the Fall, most scholarship deadlines are December 1, and going from 1270 to 2000 is very unlikely, not that you shouldn’t try. The problem is that scholarships are reserved to students in high school trying to go to college - students already in college are not allowed to compete for them.
For around 10k and entrance in the Fall, with those results, you can make it to Chadron State, Peru State, or Minot State - I think that’s it.

Um, nah. I just wanna enter college . Ok lemme say am an HS graduate and I calculated my gpa myself lool . Yeah, I know most scholarships is for new freshmen, that is what am rooting for. The SAT low score was a result of bad preparation, I didn’t know I was gonna write in Jan. When I started d process(may 2013) I was told I needed only toefl, just last dec my guadiance counsellor told me I need to take SAT had to reg asap I started taking d collegeboard prep test online n I got d mcgraw hills practise book two weeks before d exam, I practised on my own, no help. I’d do it again in may I know I’m not a dull kid, I can get 1900- 2400. Am planning to take summer classes as a pre-college thingy(I’d probably take d SAT in US) so will I still get any college to admit me as a new student for fall 2014?

Some U.S. colleges do not require SAT, but most do. Those grades and scores are too low for most scholarships. You could get admissions but not any scholarships that I know of. Better to look for organizations in your country that will give you a scholarship. You could get admissions only. But I don’t know anywhere for $10,000 for all your expenses and living.

Here is a college that might accept you and tuition and most cost is free you work there for part of your expenses… Because of this, many student are trying to get accepted, so it is low acceptance rate. But you seem to meet the minimum requirements. If you write a very good application maybe you will get in. Maybe they would like someone from your country. But you would have to wait However you have missed this enrollment cycle. Next cycle takes application in the Fall 2014 for admission Fall 2015.
