When I applied for Cal Grants I was unsure if I would be housing on campus so when i filled out the information I put “living with parents”, same thing with FAFSA. Later, I decided I would dorm and filled the application and did the whole process. In FAFSA I was allowed to change my housing status but not with Cal Grants. Does anyone know how to change the information in Cal Grants or you just can’t at all? Also, My Aid in my portal says that they are updating it, should i be worried? or is this normal? why are they doing it? does it have to do with the housing decision? I’m just a little concern that they are going to take away money.
I just went through the same thing myself, including being unable to change my housing status with the cal grant website. They just updated my aid today and it came back with about 564 less in grant aid when compared to before when I only had the UC Irvine grant. As for being able to change your housing status on the cal grant website, I believe we have to wait to a specific date until the system will allow us. I think I remember reading something about this when I was trying to change my housing status.
I was worried about the financial aid too. I called them to ask if something happened with my application but they said that they had to go back and revise everyone’s aid manually because of the 5 percent tuition increase. When the first distributed the aid, they were already including the 5 percent increase, but apparently the 5 percent increase didn’t happen so they had to go back and manually adjust everyone’s aid. I qualified for the cal grant B should I be worried because it says unconfirmed? I had the UCI grant before they revised it.
@ChemEngCA but would it make a difference if u change the housing status in cal grants? same they also updated my aid and checked the new summary today I also have around 600 less in grant aid but it’s still unconfirmed and did you also get some type of loan? Also, are u eligible for the blue + gold opportunity plan? It wasn’t previously in my aid award and I just want to be more informed about it before I accept the loan and I want to make sure I get that plan. I don’t know if it will benefit me more if I just decline the loan since my friend declined her loan from csulb and said it didn’t really affect her but once again she’s going to a different school.
@Mountie91 It’s nice to know why they revised our financial aid. And I don’t think so since my cal grant A is unconfirmed too I think we just have to wait. By any chance did u also get some type of loan and are you eligible for the blue+gold opportunity plan?
@cali86girl yeah it definitely is, for a second I had thought I was the only one that had their aid revised. No, I didn’t get a loan because I will be living at home, and yes I am eligible for the blue+gold opportunity plan as well.

@mountie91 I called last time and they told me I won’t be receiving the plan since this plan is for people that are not getting grants. Yeah mine still say unconfirmed just for the cal grant though is yours just for the cal grant? I don’t think there’s nothing to worry about and I read the info and it says that to get the full award we need to be a full time student.
My financial aid still says unconfirmed. Any updates to this?

As usual, UCI financial office blame on the IRS for the delay.
Yooooooooooo, this is getting out of hand. On the CSAC page it says I’m awarded Cal Grant A, but on the UCI “View My Awards” site says my Cal Grant is still unconfirmed.
Needless to say, it clearly says on top that I cannot pay my fee with my aids if does not say Accepted or Confirmed (page after clicking “Continue to process my aid”).
Does anyone’s else Cal Grant say “Awarded” on the CSAC website, but “Unconfirmed” on the UCI Financial Awards page? If so, does the news @Mallee15 posted cover us as well? (Mallee15’s link: http://www.ofas.uci.edu/content/News.aspx#101)

Yeah I have 14 units! Does anyone know what happens if I completely process my aid while Cal Grant is still unconfirmed? Will it automatically pay once it’s confirmed or would I be able to reprocess my aid once it does become confirmed?
Whatever, I’ll just go in the financial aid office next week.
