A good friend of mine was accepted ED to Wellesley. She calculated her financial aid (using Wellesley’s calculator) and expected to pay 25k/year. However, she just found out yesterday that she got NO financial aid. Her parents made less than 100k last year, so how is this possible?
First of all it is 2016 tax that counts. Make sure she did enter the information correctly when she calculated the aid info. Last, call W and talk to financial aid.
If they still are not giving any aid, she can back out of ED if she gets a better financial aid at a different college or a state university. [If I am wrong please correct me].
Agree with @tamtiger. I’d also suggest your friend verifies all the financial aid paperwork was submittted (FAFSA + CSS + supporting docs). Awards are not solely based on income…assets are also considered.
@tamtiger @magtf1 thank you both … I really hope this works out for her. Wellesley has been her dream college for years.
2015 taxes count.
