Financial Aid

Hi. I have a problem regarding financial aid. I am enrolled to Georgia State University for Fall 2018. They are asking for my parents IRS TAX TRANSCRIPTS. But my parents are non- US citizens. So I uploaded foreign tax transcripts. Furthermore they are asking for converted version in the form of IRS 1040. Now I have uploaded that also. Still they the documents are being sent back. This is happening since a month now! What should I do? Please help me! Thanks:)

Are you a citizen? Did you file a FAFSA?

You need to explain that your parents do not file. Do they live in the US? If so, so they have SSNs? If so, you can request a statement of non-filing from the IRS.

Where do your parents live? Did they earn income in this country?

You need to contact this financial aid office and tell them that your parents do not file US taxes. You need to ask which documents they want you to send, and you need to ask how they want those documents sent.

call your financial aid office…and ask what they really need since your parents are not citizens, and presumably earned no income here.

Not true, if her parents are not citizens and legally able to work in the US they need an ITIN and should have filed taxes

Now if they are undocumented, not eligible to work in the US and worked illegally , that is a different issue

Right…we don’t really KNOW the situation. All we know is they are not citizens. We don’t know if tax filing is required.

the OP does mention a foreign tax transcript…but that would only apply if the parents were NOT required to file here.
