Sending Financial Aid

I don’t know if this is the right place, but under my “To Do List” is IRS Tax Transcript for parents and student/spouse. Does anyone know how I am supposed to send those in to my college? Is this another way of saying FAFSA? because I already completed it.

btw I am going to CSULA.

The IRS Transcript either needs to be downloaded at IRS.gov, or you will want to log back in to your FAFSA and make a correction to use the IRS Data Retrieval tool for you and your parents (providing each of you filed a tax return) and it will link the figures over from the IRS on to your FAFSA. You then sign and re-submit the FAFSA to your school.

The IRS Transcript is required to verify the figures you listed on the FAFSA. You can either download the hard copy or link the electronic figures using the tool on the FAFSA.

@kgos16 What if I am not going to file?

Did you check ‘will not file’ on your FAFSA? If so, contact the school and ask what they want. Some have a form for you to sign that you did not file. At my daughter’s school, this form is on the FA website.

Under my to do list, it also says Verification Worksheet. Is that part of FAFSA?

The verification worksheet is something provided by your school that you will complete. This is likely where you will indicate if you did not file taxes.

So I used the IRS Data Retrieval Tool, and now the parents IRS tax transcript is off my to-do list! But it still says IRS tax transcript for myself. I don’t work, so how do I send that in? I heard that I don’t have to but is anyone sure about this? I tried calling the financial aid office but it didn’t work.

As for the verification worksheet, does anyone know where I can complete this online? I found the paper form of it, but I want to process it online.

Thanks to everyone who helps!

Our verification had to be signed, so we had the option of a hard copy or printing a hard copy and faxing it.

@twoinanddone Where did you fax it to?

twoin faxed it to the kid’s school. Since you didn’t get through by phone, I would try emailing the finaid office at your school and finding out about the non-filers form and whether you can fax the verification form.
