Currently, my family is making $40000 a year. However, in July, my dad will have completed his residency and will be making three times the amount.

Do I have any hope of financial aid?

Do I have any hope of financial aid?

for what program? (plz specify)

I'm looking into Oxbridge, Harvard, University of Chicago or Brown.

no, you won't. kids whose parents make 20,000 a year get half of a scholarship IF LUCKY and amazing.

Harvard gives free-ride for families with annual income below 65 grands.

But that's not the same for their summer program, is it?

your financial aid for summer programs will be determined based on your 2006 income. You may very well be eligible for financial aid for Harvard, Brown and University of Chicago. The $40,000 is a low figure and will make you eligible -- your fathers future income won't mean anything.

It won't be a full FA award, you will need to pay a portion plus spending money and a plane ticket. University of Chicago only awards financial aid for tuition, not room and board -- so if you need a lot of aid, you should skip that application.

It is getting late in the season to apply for financial aid -- alot of it has been allocated already. check on the dates for Harvard and Brown and apply.

The only financial aid available for Oxbridge was a scholarship competition with applications due February 16th.

There are other good programs out there that award financial aid:

Carleton College Summer Writing Program
Washington and Lee Summer Scholars
Boston University High School Honors
Summer Writing Institute -- Rhodes
Thomas Moore
Genesis at Brandeis
Columbia Union -- Capitol Summer Session
George Washington Summer Scholar

use google to check on these programs -- all give up to full financial aid.

One thing to keep in mind -- better financial aid goes to kids with high stats and good EC's.

I got good financial aid from BU...half the cost of the program
