financial aid?

i got into occidental, which i'm thrilled about, except for the fact that if my tentative financial aid offer is all they're willing to give me...i can't afford to go. for current students...how do you negotiate financial aid? will i be able to work something out with the school? how much should this affect my decision?

hey... i remember you were applying as a transfer as i did. How did you find out? email? regular mail? Was it today? im in PA and I still dont have an answer. Big package? small envelope? fedex or regular mail? hahaha....sorry for so many questions

i got it in the mail yesterday in a big envelope. hope yours comes soon!

i dunno but i'm in the process of trying to get more financial aid as well so best of luck to you!

Does submitting our SIR mean that we automatically accept our financial aid offer, or are we supposed to accept the financial aid offer separately, (like most schools have you do)? If so by when and how do we accept the financial aid offer?

i'm not sure about this but i got the impression that it would be better to get ur desired financial aid before u submit ur SIR cuz frankly, once u submit ur SIR, ur legally binded to attend that school (well, there are situations where this is an exception, ec. waitlist) so i don't think that they would work on ur fin aid needs first :)

What's SIR?

Statement of Intent to Register: so it's basically ur deposit that will hold your spot for Oxy for fall

i met with the director of financial aid and she was able to offer me scholarship and no interest loans, which now makes the school affordable. i definitely suggest talking to financial aid people before you submit your SIR because they are a little flexible.
