<p>How does Duke calculate financial aid?? </p>
<p>On my FAFSA, the expected family contribution was $21,000 (with 7 kids my parents were pleasently suprised), now Duke sent me a letter saying that it was a freaking $76,000 ($9000 from student and $67,000 from parents) as my EFC! I did not even get any aid only a loan offer of $5500. </p>
<p>So my question again how does Duke calculate need? b/c right now I'm really angry!!</p>
<p>must be something wrong. FA has been known to make mistakes, why not contact them and point out that the figures they gave you are wrong?</p>

<p>yeah, call FA. duke was a lOT more generous to my family than FAFSA was lols.</p>
<p>^I got basically what the FAFSA had. Only after numerous calls and letters (with documentation) did Duke slightly lower FA, still in the same ballpark though.</p>
