I see that the Financial Aid Summary is up but not the efan. If i am living in an a university apartment is that off campus or on campus? Since the apartment i picked is one of the cheapest shouldnt that bring my total cost down? when do we know the actual cost or is it all estimates and you return the extra?

I you live in University apartments, then you are living on campus. What you see on your Financial AId summary is the actual offer. You can either accept or decline each type of aid (scholarship, work study, or loans). Whatever you accept will be disbursed on a quarterly basis to the school who deducts tuitions/fees against it and then deposits the remaining balance into your bank account ( you need to provide your bank account number and routing number to UCLA). It is then your responsibility to write a check to pay for housing. Whatever is left (if anything is left) after tuitions and housing is yours to keep. Grants are free, subsidized loans don’t have to be paid back until 6 months after graduation and the interest does not start accruing until then. Unsubsidized loans don’t have to be paid back either until 6 months after you graduate, but the difference is that the interest starts accruing the minute it is disbursed to the school. One option will be for you or your parents to make monthly interest payments while you are at school so it does not compound over the years. Hope that helps!

Thanks that helps but i was reading my efan and saw that university apartments is considered off campus so i had to change the info. It says it will be changed shortly. I wonder how long shortly is? I hope it wont effect my aid too much.

oh sorry, my fault. I believe that teh budget for off campus is $2000 less than for on campus.[Fees, Tuition, and Estimated Student Budget - UCLA Undergraduate Admissions](Tuition and Fees | UCLA Undergraduate Admission)
