financial aid

Thanks so much stly. You’re the first person who has explained that process to me.

are perkins loans subsidized for the time of attendance? I thought they were but just making sure…
when do calgrants pay out? I could really use that moolah

I don’t have enough money in my bank account to pay the first e-bill. when do loans show up in our accounts or am I totally off on this one?

Just an update – my quick statement is now lowered to accomodate some of my financial aid. Unfortunately, calgrants are not in yet.

On E-Bill Statement that’s due on 15th, it says account balance is 12,244.25 and minimum payment due is 6064.25. On CARS quick statement, it says account balance is 6727.25 and minimum ammount due now is 547.25. I am really confused as to how much I need to pay by 15th, seeing that only loans and no grants have been sent to CARS yet. Any advice?

the bill isn’t really due (i.e. no late fees) until 30 days after the posted “due date”, so don’t sweat it, wait 'til all the loans/grants go thru to CARS, even if that takes beyond the Aug 15th deadline.

BERKELEY UG SCHOLARSHIP FINANCIAL AID OFFICE Information $xxx $3,924.00 ACCEPTED $0.00

All my other stuff has been sent to CARS…?
Or is this one just slower?
Could it be due to the budget cuts, I’m not going to be getting this?

starrynights - You’ll get the aid you were promised. The school hasn’t processed its own grants yet, I haven’t gotten my regents one yet either. AFAIK, pellgrants and part of calgrants has been processed.

nikiniki- that probably means your financial aid has processed. only pay what it says under quick statement, the 500 something amount.

has anyone else not received their financial aid?

What does this mean on quick statement?:

Minimum Amount Due Now: $3,056.75
Minimum Due + Full Reg Fee: $3,056.75
Account Balance: $8,598.75

mm two questions… so on my CARS Bill, is the “University Fees” under “REGIST” dept what my fee is for the classes i registered for? and i checked my fees in telebears again, and suddenly the fees dropped by a lot. is this because of the financial aid that kicked in? (which still doesnt make sense though because the [original fee] - [1750 pell grant added to my CARS] doesnt = the new registration fee on my telebears @__@]

same thing happened to me, my fees dropped too. then i figured out that only one of my scholarships went through and that was subtracted from the fees

i’ve gotten loans and things. My cal grants haven’t come in yet.

Can anybody give me insight on my question?

the amount due now is the amount you need to pay by the 15th+grace period of however long it is on the website.

I was going to call the financial aid office to ask when Cal Grants will be inputted in CARS, but was not able to make the call before the 3 PM office closing time. So my question to you all is this: does anyone have a clue as to when the Cal Grants will show up in CARS? Will it show up before the 15th?

P.S. Pell Grant has been inputted in CARS, but the Cal Grant is the big chunk of my financial aid. I will make a phone call to the financial aid office tomorrow, but a prompt answer tonight would be a much more convenient.

Thanks

Unlikely - I believe calgrants are sent out in september to ensure that you are enrolled in enough units after the drop deadlines end.

I have Pell Grants and they didn’t process … In fact nothing has been. All of my money is going through Berkeley though (loans, grants, Berkeley scholarship). My Berkeley UG Scholarship covers my 8/15 bill so if they say I need to pay for it I’ll be annoyed.

Also: this is sort of weird, I asked my fin aid counselor to convert some work study to loans, and she did it and told me I could accept them NEXT WEEK. I was on here a while ago and someone said you had to accept loans by 8/15. That is not the case unless my counselor lied to me.

I just logged onto myberkeleyapp and it said I needed to pay my bill online or risk not being registered. … What?! That’s just an automatic message right? Because my entire bill is covered by fin aid.

If part of my fees are still not paid for but are supposed to be by my scholarships through Berkeley, should I pay and then expect a check for the amount I paid?
