financial aid

coron & abbcc: Your CARS e-Bill won’t reflect changes until the month is done, so pay no attention to it right now.

If you want to see if you’ve paid, check your offer letter, which shows if anything’s been paid FIRST. Your quick statement probably won’t reflect anything for a couple of days.

My friend went directly to the fin aid office and they said fin aid pays at different times. So if you have enough fin aid to pay your first payment, it will pay. Maybe not by 8/15 but it will pay in time with no consequences to you.

iWay: My loans have paid on my offer letter but not on BearFacts, have you checked yours yet?

I’ve checked, but it still says N/A on “Paid” on all my loans, so I’m really worried.

What does each thing mean on the quick statement? My top 2 values are $0, but I still have a number for the 3rd

@masterhammy The top two values are what you owe now. The third is what you owe over the course of the semester; probably housing.

I’ve been trying to call the financial aid and billing offices all day but for some reason they’re having some system failure, of all days.

I’m not sure exactly what I should do before tomorrow, to not get penalized or anything. My quick statement says that :
Minimum Amount Due Now: $550.75
Minimum Due + Full Reg Fee: $550.75
Account Balance: $7,330.75

on my e-bill it says i owe around 6000 dollars, and while only some financial aid money has been sent to CARS (according to CARS awards summary) its about only 5k (waiting on some loans).

Now, you guys have said that that the amount i have to pay by aug 15 is 550.75, but how do i go about doing that (since it seems the only option to pay with is the e-bill, and that says I owe 6k)? And how would I pay that without using my own personal money but the financial aid money? Should I just wait until Monday to try calling them again?

@yukiko91 In Bearfacts, choose the “financial aid” tab then the “offer letter” tab. Click “fall term” on the sidebar. Add up the numbers in the “paid” column. If the sum covers registration and your first month of housing, then you probably just need to wait for somebody in FAO to apply it to your CARS.

Casey: That is what worries me, the number does not cover all of the registration and housing fees (some of the money for loans and grant has not gotten through, for some reason, and I’ve signed my master promissory notes): its short about $500. Plus, what exactly do I have to do before August 15 is what confuses me.

yukiko91, I don’t think anybody has received their loans yet. If you’re expecting that money to cover the $500 you still owe, then you have nothing to worry about. Those who are not expected to pay anything out of pocket for registration and the first month of housing are not expected to take any action by the 15th. That’s the financial aid office’s job. They got a late start this year. Blame the Cali governor and legislature for the budget scare.

So, anyone got their loans paid yet?

Oh yeah, I decided to pay the bill just now and not wait for loans to pay. Will I get late fees because it’s already the 17th?

No loans here. But I didn’t complete the entrance counseling till last week and they just changed my loan status today, so I might not be the most reliable source.

Haha, it’s cool. I just did the Entrance Counseling thing today because I found it for the first time today snooping around on Bearfacts.

If we had extra finaid {cause I panicked and paid the registration early xD}, when are we going to get it back?

I think this has been said to death: NO LATE FEES will be accrued for 30 days after your e-bill. If you want to pay your bill for peace of mine, sure, but there is no reason to worry. This happens every year, the loans are in the process of being… processed. Don’t pay anything until all the loans/grants have been applied to CARS.

I know probably everyone here who has cal grants, still hasn’t had theirs paid to their cars account. but I’ve also got that fed acad comp grant which hasn’t paid to cars either. so I was just wondering if it’s paid out for anyone else? and if it’s ever going to?

^same here

to those that have not had their cal grants pay out…do you guys have siblings that are entering college?

see, i also have the same problem with cal grant still not paying out. i emailed my counselor and he (sort of sarcastically) told me i had to fill out a College Verification form. I was never notified about this, btw.

It is a form that denotes all of the family members (including yourself) that will be attending college this incoming year. My counselor said that after this is filled out and processed, my aid will pay out.

My next question to him is HOW LONG WILL THIS TAKE? i still haven’t had a response.

has anyone had this happen to them?

I had never heard of this. Nothing appears under missing documents and it says that my profile is complete.

@itsawhopper my situation is pretty much the same.

okay so the fed acad comp grant paid to my cars account, but am I the only one who still hasn’t had my cal grant accepted, let alone sent to my cars account? I’m beginning to get a little worried.

I am in the same situation. I hope the money goes through soon.
