My daughter's aid just posted on Gibson!!!

Well??? Don’t leave us hanging, was it what you hoped for? I am guessing the !!! means good news.

I second that - Dish!

So sorry - I have been texting her since she’s at her school’s play practice and on the phone telling of the news! YES! It’s awesome and just as we had hoped - almost identical to Lafayette! One battle out of the way…we just have to hope she likes it! It now puts it at the same price tag as the other schools she’s considering - College of Charleston (which she saw but was not 100% sold on) and Auburn (which she’ll see the week before Tulane) - they all have identical packages so now it comes down to fit. So glad she has nice options and Tulane is one of them! yay!

That’s great news! Hope we’ll be reporting something similar soon!

Great situation you all find yourselves in then. I visited C of C recently, and I like Charleston (the city) almost as much as NOLA, although in a very different way. The school (and I was only there a brief time) seems very nice and on the rise. I met three students that have graduated from there while in Charleston. One was a server at an upscale restaurant, but it was totally his choice. He was taking a year just to sail and do some other things, then he hopes to use his business degree to do something in the boat/water recreation business. He seemed like an intelligent and very well spoken young man. He had good things to say about C of C. The other two were chemistry graduates, and also had enjoyed their time there.

Anyway, I obviously shouldn’t be playing up C of C, lol. And that hardly constitutes intimate knowledge anyway, so just saying. I do get the impression that in general, Tulane is more academically challenging.

I agree Tulane’s definitely more academically challenging than her other 2 choices on the table right now - which is part of the appeal. She’s also not so sure what her major would be there since she wants to go into Pediatric Physical Therapy - but as long as she gets her science and math, she can really study anything. Vanderbilt she’ll also hear from next week. Although, Vandy may not be her “crowd” (she’s heard the southern girls will eat her alive! lol) and, if she’s fortunate to get in, may be harder than she would like her college life to be. lol

Charleston was beautiful but she couldn’t put her finger on why she wasn’t 100% in love with it. She could see herself going there (so it’s still in the running) but I think would have liked to have seen some students in college apparel (legitimately and not “staged”) and more green grass. Maybe Tulane will be the ticket, now that they have come through financially! Can’t express enough how ecstatic we are about that!

I have always felt that the balance of so many factors is a big part of what makes Tulane so attractive. Academically rigorous without being insane. Gorgeous campus in a quasi-suburban section of a city. Campus is also not too big and not tiny, same with the size of the student body. Excellent world-caliber research opportunities but still undergrad focused. Certainly not perfect and not for everyone, but I think it has very much to offer.

Anyway, back to financial aid. Anyone else get theirs?

nj_mom, I truly did lol when I read your post about southern girls! My southern girl sports a short haircut with crayon red highlights, and unless she is in costume, wears jeans and a tank top. Of course, she might have similar reservations about Vandy - don’t know how many artsy theatre types flock there.

dfunckmom - I just want her to make up her own mind and not listen to what her HS “friends” have to say about the schools and “the types” that go there. What do they know anyway? I think there was so much hype from everyone about C of C, that actually ended up being a detriment as the school didn’t live up to her expectations. She has no expectations for the other 3, so I’m hoping we’ll have a winner soon! :)

Mine still isn’t up :/

Only my 15K scholarship is listed.

They did say on the phone yesterday that they were entering these manually so I’m not surprised they are not all posting today. We just got lucky. Maybe they’re being posted based on application date or confirmed plans to visit the school (Destination Tulane)? Keep the faith. At least something is starting to happen. :)
