I’m a transfer student and applied to UCI, UCSB, CSUF, and UCLA. I’ve received admission from the first three so far but have not received an award package.
For example, UCI just has this listed under the “MyAid” website…
"We have received your 2015-16 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) indicating your intent to apply for financial aid at UCI.
Carefully read and follow these instructions.
As of the dates noted below, our office has received all of the initial information requested.
Your initial application is complete and all documents were submitted on time.
Based upon the receipt dates as shown below, you may be considered for “priority funding” (this includes grants, loans and work-study). Please note, that we may be asking for additional information from you to complete the evaluation of your file. You will remain eligible for priority funding providing all future documents requested are received on or before the due date."
I don’t even know how to access the CSUF financial aid portal. And USCB is currently down, so I can’t post their exact message but it’s similar to UCI’s. So how exactly does this work? When will I know what I receive in financial aid? Any help? Please and thank you!
Some on here may have this information, but, in the event they don’t, just call all three schools on Monday and ASK. And congrat’s on the the good admissions results!
Click on ‘Financial Aid Summary’ below to view your estimated costs and financial need.
You have no financial aid awards available for viewing in this aid year."
but then when i click financial aid summary, it has the estimated budget and EFC. then it has estimated need with total aid at 0.00 with a little black line next to it.
this is all just too confusing. what does this even mean? anybody?
i’m not so worried about CSUF since i’m not going there, but the UC’s are what i’m getting a bit worried with.
Look, you will just have to wait a bit to get your award information from UCI and UCSB, they told you it is coming and that your info is complete and to keep an eye on the portal so do that. They just had admissions and now they are working on the packages, wait and see. What is there to be worried about? Didn’t you ever estimate it?
Well I see others have posted that they received their award packages. So I don’t know how this works. This whole process is new to me and I don’t know how it works.
No I did not estimate it. I didn’t even know that was possible?
I believe I am eligible for pell and cal grant?
Sorry i’m basically clueless about the whole aid process. I just know the basics and how it works. I don’t know anything more than that, when it’s posted, how it’s posted, what is posted, etc.
Every college has a different process of how they create award packages. They might be awarding in specific batches, just depending on what group you are in might determine when your award will be ready. You are best off just contacting your schools tomorrow.
I logged into the UCSB portal and got this message today…
"Your initial 2015-2016 FAFSA was received by the federal processor on 2/19/2015.
If you are admitted to UCSB or if you are on the waitlist, the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships will determine your unofficial financial aid eligibility and post it on this web site. Unofficial financial aid eligibility and other basic financial aid information will be posted beginning in late March for admitted freshmen and mid-April for admitted transfer students. This eligibility will be based solely on the information you provided on your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). We will send you an e-mail when the Unofficial Award Letter is available for you to view. If you make changes to your FAFSA data after your Unofficial Award Letter is posted, we will not recalculate your eligibility and update your Unofficial Award Letter."
so i guess by mid-april, they’ll be finalized? i’ll contact the schools tomorrow. but thanks again!
