Hey guys! Hope everyone's college applications and scholarships are all being settled and it's all becoming clear. For me though, The University of Alabama cost roughly 20k a year. I recieved the Presidential scholarship for 8,800$ a year and FAFSA CAN award me up to 5,500$ per year (qualified for the biggest Pell grant) The only problem is, I still lack 7,000$ a year to cover Alabama's COA and they offered me no other scholarships. My question to you guys is, What else can I do? Community scholarships and all aside, how can I make it? My family needs to pay as little as possible. Thanks for any replies! Take it easy

well, there’s always, and dare i say it, loans. I’m sure they offered you a lot in loans, but the question is, do you want to take the loans.

At this point, it’s either loans, or outside scholarships. You can ask the college to review your FA package, and perhaps consider giving you a little more, but that’s pretty rare. Did you get any institution aid like grants? They should give you at least 1 or 2,000.

Also, there is Work study, where you can possibly pay about 2k if you work for the school. Maybe you can work in the summer? That can help as well.

Alex,

PM me…

I can probably help you get more from Alabama.

You’re a URM, right?

What was your full FA pkg?

Full tuition scholarship
5500 Pell
5500 loans?
any Perkins??
any SEOG grants?
any work study?

You have high stats, you’re instate, and you’re low income.

Did you apply to the Honors College? If not, do so ASAP

I sent you an email as well.
