Upon Graduation, will have taken 9 AP Tests and 7 AP Classes (so far I've taken 4 Tests: 5s in 3 of them and a 4 in French)

My recs are really good.

Solid ECs, possibly a couple of hooks: Foregin born (Russian), heavy invovlment in Graphics work/clubs, honorable mention for all-state cross country (I could run at a bad D1)

I am trying to find some financial safeties outside of Boston or NYC..... I found Adelphi University, but my parents said they didn't like the 52% graduation rate and the #121 ranking on US News (ya I know...)

So who has some good urban financial safeties?

Hopefully, there's at least some small type of campus like Columbia if its right in the city and ideally the academics don't suck.

Are you eligible for need-based aid, or are you talking about strictly merit aid? What state do you reside in? Do you mean that you do not want to be in the city, just fairly close to it? Look at Brandeis. Worchester Polytechnic could be a great safety for you, also.

onemom, i am eligible for some need-based aid, but I'd rather just get merit aid. I am willing to be in the city as long as it's not like NYU style campus with no real campus. I know you can't be super picky with safties, but I really want one with easy easy access to the city

If you like engineering, architecture, or fine arts, how about Cooper Union? Sure, it doesn't have a real campus. But it's right in the middle of Manhattan. Best of all, the tuition is zero (still have to pay room and board, though). But that's effectively a 'merit scholarship' right there.
