'Find x'

Is anyone else thinking about doing the supplemental essay prompt 'Find x?' Is it just me or can one basically go wherever they want with this essay as long as they reach some clarifying conclusion?

I really want to do it, but I'm not sure if I understand it lol. I feel this may be the point of this prompt.

It’s not like they’re looking for any kind of essay in particular - don’t bother looking for something to ‘understand’ (it’ll probably be a plus if your answer is unusual).

And there are a LOT of things you can do with a prompt like that (try to get a rough idea of the number of approaches you could come up with, then multiply that by 10-100); just have fun with it and make sure it’s moderately related.

From what I’ve seen on CC, quite a lot of people are planning on doing that one; I think it’s a great one to choose.

I don’t think you can really misunderstand the question. It’s supposed to be open-ended. That’s kinda the point (like you guessed). It can be tangentially related as long as it’s interesting.

I was going to do that one, but then ended up doing the two types of people essay instead…But I might scrap it later on.

I didn’t know x was missing.

^Lol.
I think what’s hard about this prompt is there’s an infinite amount of topics to write about, but only one we can write about.

one should write about trying to find a topic for this prompt.

x=topic

:D

I was going to do this prompt, but I think I’m going to do the two types of people essay.
It was a tough choice, though. I initially really like the “find x” prompt.

what made you change your mind then?
