Finding Local Liaison Officer

How did you find the name/number of your local liaison officer? My son recently got his SLS acceptance letter and it listed a local liaison in an area code that I'd never heard of. When I looked it up, the liaison officer was located in Austin, Texas, while we're in Green Bay, Wisconsin!

My son called the SLS office and asked them and they told him it was wrong and gave him another number to call, which turned out to be the admissions office at WP. He left a message there, but hasn't heard anything back. Is there a place online you can look this up? I hate to call back and bother them again at USMA! Thanks!

If your son has not heard back from USMA Admissions within a reasonable period of time, he should call them again. There is no online database with this information.

We are also in WI (Eau Claire). We are not sure who our laison officer is here either. I am not sure if it would be the same person. My son contacted admissions about a month ago re: an interview. He was told they would contact the local officer and get it set up, but as of today he has not heard anything. His plan is to contact admissions again if he doesn't hear from them by Wednesday.

Wisconsin is covered by the Great Lakes Admission Team headed by Major Freds. His assistants can be reached at 845-938-5728 or you can contact Major Freds at Will.Freds@usma.edu . They are there to answer your questions.

Major Freds was who my son left the message for. However, the 845 area code is West Point, and I guess from the email that he is located there. At least for AF, my son's local liaison is, well, local! I was just expecting that there would be a contact in the area. I'll let you know if we hear anything back Tachyon. Thanks everyone!

Major Freds will be able to let you know a local MALO's name. He's very busy, so be a little patient.

You may also want to check with the College Counselor at your high school. He/she should know somebody who can answer some questions.

Good luck.

Can i have the number to the Austin, TX officer?

It is better to start a new thread then tack on a question to one that is over 4 yrs old. Most of those participants are long gone from here.

Haha very true i didn’t even check the date

Wow - just to give you an idea of how old this thread is, I was the original poster asking how to find a Liaison Officer for my son. He’s now a junior at the Air Force Academy, and just arrived at West Point today as an exchange cadet for the semester. And my husband and I ARE now Liaison Officers and have been for 3 years! (Fueled in part by our inability to find one when we were looking for our son!). If you give me your congressional district number, I can PM you any of the names/contact info I have for that district (it’s broken down that way in the database and I’m not familiar enough with the area to get the info otherwise). Good luck and definitely check out serviceacademyforums.com for any questions!

^Wow, exchange cadet, that’s awesome! Heard it’s hard to get.

Depends which way you want to go! Seems like everyone at WP wants to “vacation” at AF for a semester. The reverse is not quite true - he said pretty much anyone who requested it and was in good standing got it. When he was at the airport Wednesday in NY, just in that short span of time he had 3 cadets ask him separately “Why on earth would you want to come HERE?!” :)

marciemi…is the exchange available also with the other SAs (CGA, Merch. Marines and USNA)? Seem like a great opportunity for all sides!
T

It is, except USMMA does not participate, I believe, according to USNA’s exchange website.

Yes, Merchant Marine doesn’t participate (probably due to their sea term and different academic schedule) but the other 4 academies do. When I was at West Point I spent a semester at the Naval Academy and really enjoyed the different experiences.
