When do you think I may find out about an appt.? I'm triple Q'd with a nomination.

if you get your nomination, and you're triple q'd, from what I understand the admissions board meets every 2 weeks, to go over all applicants who are triple q'd, however it does take about 4-6 weeks for the academy to process your application, so I'd say you'll definitly hear before febuary, most likley, late january, but of course these are all rough estimates... sorry

correction

admissions board meets every 2 weeks to review the files of all the applicants who are tripple q'd and have recieved a nomination

it takes 4-6 weeks for the academy to recieve and process your nomination

good luck

It could be in the next couple of weeks if you got the principal nomination or were the most competitive in your district.

It could be February if you're one of the top triple q'd that didn't win a district.

It could be April or May if you're on the waitlist.

I understand that the admissions review boards will not be meeting until the week of 1/3.

My daughter received a letter from our Congressman on Saturday with her nomination. We have also learned that her file is complete and will be reviewed by the Admissions Board the first week in January. I also understand that our Congressman makes the calls to his nominees who are offered admissions. She attended the IAW but does not have the LOA. If the Board decides to admit, will it really be 4-6 weeks later before she hears?

From my understanding, Unlike the AF academy (due to the fact that the cadets who run it submit a letter of recommendation to all the candidates who attended the summer program) IAW attendees are treated just like regular applicants (accept for the fact that I guess they are given the opportunity to take the PAE twice). However from what I understand people who receive the "fully qualified" letter + a nomination have about a 60% of admissions. and Yes it will probably take 4-6 weeks. You probably heard about your daughter's nomination status before the academys have. Keep checking the website to see when you see that little nomination box say 'yes'. then you should be hearing very very very soon after that box says yes.

The Academy called me today to notify me that I had been triple q'd. I have a nomination from my Senator. I was told that admissions would check through my file to see if there was anything else that could add points and earn me a LOA.

I was not the principal nominee, and I received a letter today as well that stated I would be placed on the waitlist.

Hang in there. Keep updating your file. The fact that they're willing to comb through your file is a positive sign.

I received an LOA back in December, and the candidate site has reflected a completed file since last Thursday. Does anyone have any idea when I might hear back from West Point...?

pcrunner:

Assuming all the requirements in your LOA are met, I expect that the timing of an appointment letter depends on when WP gets your nomination information and when the admissions board meets.

Other candidates with LOA seem to have heard from WP pretty quickly after they received nominations.

The requirements of the LOA were that I complete my file and receive a nomination. As reflected on the site, I have completed my file and received two nominations. Unless there's something aside from this that I don't know about, I should be set as far as my application is concerned. That being said, should I expect to receive an appointment sometime soon?

pcrunner: Yes, I would expect you should hear pretty soon. You might consider contacting admissions and asking them if there is any additional information they are awaiting (first semester grades?, other) and, if not, when you might expect to receive your appointment notification.

My congressman called yesterday I have an appointment to WP!! but I'm still waiting to hear from Navy.

Thanks, aspen. I'll call them tomorrow. My first semester ends tomorrow, so maybe they want my first semester grades...? I suppose that could be it. Has anyone here received an appointment without their first semester grades being in..?

pcrunner,

I suspect that anyone who has received their appointment already has not yet turned in their 1st semester grades. Most schools have just recently completed finals. I expect that within the next few weeks the Admissions offices of most colleges will be inundated with 7th semester grades.
Good luck when you call tomorrow!
