Finding reason why I study?

The serious question: Why are you studying what you are studying?

The rant: These days I wonder "why am I going to get this degree?" I don't imagine myself rich. I don't need so much money. I just enough to have a roof over my head in a decent neighborhood that doesn't need to be Beverly Hills. Perhaps to get a better job than if I didn't have one? But then I wonder do I really need an "intense" major and so much competition to get a job so I'm in the middle class? Do I really need to be a doctor, a lawyer, etc? Do I need a high paying job or can I just have one that I love?
/rant

I’m studying what I’m studying because it is what I love. Going into a high paying career that you hate is pretty much just a guaranteed way of burning out and wasting a lot of money.

Do what you love, love what you do, and the world will come to you.

Do what interests you, but make sure it is something that will get you where you want to be in life. My passion was law, but after I realized the immense number of hours lawyers work weekly, the amount of schooling needed, and the cut-throat nature of the job, i realized that even though I’d want to do law i would not be happy with the lifestyle of the career. SO i did engineering! I love math <3

History’s cool. I find the readings to be interesting due to their everlasting relevance, and the papers are far easier to write than humanities papers, albeit generally longer. I honestly have no idea what I want to do as a career so the History major path (or lack thereof) seems to fit.

I’d rather have both money and a job to love. Sorry, but I’m a materialistic whore that wants nice things  Unfortunately it kinda sorta requires currency to acquire these things.

there’s no reason to do anything in this beautiful life, that’s why it’s so damn beautiful. make your own reasons and meaning.

i think you don’t know the perfect value of education in life…if you are a well educated then you will get a lot of respects from the society…you can open a wide range of job opportunities…and you can attain a better future life and also you can maintain a better families also…so think well…these all happiness will get only from a better education…and academic degree…:)

I’m studying what I’m studying and keeping up a decent GPA because if I don’t, I’ll get pummeled by my parents. Since I still kind of depend on them, I gotta study… a bunch of crap

I work hard in school so I can transfer to a good four year. From there, I’ll work hard to get into a good grad school…besides the fact that tuition isn’t cheap and my parents are paying for it, when they could be spending the money on themselves instead. I don’t want them to feel like they’re wasting their money.

The funny thing is you don’t. There is never any joy in wanting to reach a goal if it’s going to be many years until you reach it. You should try setting a goal each day that you’ll accomplish by midnight. It keeps college more interested and trust me when I say this. You will gain a lot more joy if you try and fail or succeed now than you waiting a long time to succeed or fail.

I’m studying what I’m studying because I enjoy learning about East Asian cultures and languages, I’m bad at math and science so anything that deals with those two subjects is a no from me, I don’t have a desire for being rich and would be happy just living in a decent one-story house and being able to pay my bills on time.
