I’m not quite sure where to post this, but I am a community college student looking for any research opportunities at nearby Universities (the ones I will also be applying to transfer to). Aside from summer research programs, I made a list of current labs and research projects at these schools that really interest me and I have already written a well-crafted email to send to each lab, but I’m not sure which lab faculty member to contact first. Do I reach out to the lab directors, associate professors, Ph.D. candidates, or someone else? In other words, which faculty members are most likely to give me the time of day and possibly a little direction? I understand how difficult this goal is, so I’m trying to determine the best way to go about this. Thank you!
