I think UT would be a good safety for you, any LACs with econ programs that you like?

Careful about UT. Although the median stats are seemingly low, and it seems like a sure shot for you considering HYPS level stats - it’s deceiving. The Texas state has a rule that all those in the top 10% of their school are REQUIRED by the University of Texas at Austin to accept said applicant. So the median SAT scores/GPAs are weighed down by the fact that there are some not very strong applicants that come from bad schools in which competition is non existent. Furthermore - the state’s population is so high that if every single top 10% student in Texas decided they wanted to go to UT - the school couldn’t accommodate them. It’s not that UT doesn’t WANT qualified out of state applicants - it’s just that they are required by Texas state law to follow this policy.

Trust me on this one. I attend a school in Texas that doesn’t rank - so we get hurt by this top 10% rule. I’ve got senior friend that got into Stanford and Northwestern that got CAP’d or rejected by UT. The way we laugh about it here is that Texas hates unranked in state kids, despises out of state kids more, and loathes internationals.

Still consider the Business Honors Program. It’s a gem in the South that get’s recruited by the BB’s and even places like Blackstone. Just don’t consider it a safety.

UT seems to like students from my school so I’ll definitely look into the business honors program.
