Finding the best fit for Sustainability Environmental Consulting Career

Hello,

Im a sophmore undergrad who aspires to be an environmental consultant or hold some other kind of related career working mostly with business methods. Im terrible at math and the highest i've taken is college algebra. My college does not offer any specialized environmental degrees like forestry etc. I am thinking of majoring in economics and getting a minor in Biology. What are your thoughts in terms of going through with this degree plan and being qualified for such a career? Would a major in biology be better with a minor in economics?

I would prefer not having to transfer...i have some anxiety issues and it would be very hard for me to move away.

I go to the University of Central Oklahoma.

Thanks for all the thoughts and help!

FWIW, I was stationed in OKC for 4 years some time ago…I remember UCO.

I took a look at the list of majors at your school and Biology may be the best major there for your career plans. I would try to do an internship at some point in time as well. You could possibly follow-up with a MS degree in a another subject.

It is likely that you will need to move away from the Edmond area eventually for a career. With that in mind, I would try to work on anxiety issues now to avoid career limitations later.
