Hi--
My S is a sophomore looking for a school where he can study graphic design and fine arts but also other Liberal Arts subjects such as German. How is RIT's Liberal Arts College? What are the students and faculty like and what does it take to get in?
Thanks for any info and advice.

Students studying art or design at RIT work toward a BFA degree. That means they take about two-thirds of their coursework in the College of Imaging Arts and Sciences. The other third of their courses are in Liberal Arts. (I don't know if they can take some of their electives in the other colleges.) My son has given mixed reports on his liberal arts classes. Some have been demanding and enriching; some have been just one more requirement toward the degree to check off.

Students do have the opportunity to minor in a liberal arts discipline, which means taking six quarter-long courses in that discipline. Here's the roster of foreign language courses for the fall quarter - RIT - Schedule of Courses - List Courses
