That defense is comical to watch...oh and dont bring up app state... this team is much worse than app state

They need to get rid of the defensive coordinator that’s for sure!!!

This is something where I feel we all can connect to bearcats to some degree at least, and that says a lot.

Not as bad as special teams.

Our (UW) special teams are way worse than yours.

^^^That’s hard to believe!

Well Lloyd Carr lost to App State, not RRod. Plus Robinson, a very good defensive coach, is our D coordinator. Then we have a young D and a very depleted secondary. Lastly they were just over looking Mass and got burned, hopefully it taught them a lesson.

RichRod’s offensive scheme is the reason Robinson has been able to succeed so you can’t fire him and really, one bad game where they played down to their opponent but still won is nothing to fire people over. Be happy Michigan fans, you’re 3-0, ranked, and you have a Heisman contender at QB, much more than you could have reasonably expected coming into the season.

I agree that RR is not making the Defense a priority and in Football (particularly in the Big 10), a great defense trumps a great offense any day. That said, our Defense is young and the secondary completely depleted. Warren left a year early, Turner transfered and Woolfolk is out for the season. What could have been the strength of our defense is now its weakness. But that does not excuse the horrible tackling up front. UMass gained over 200 yards on the ground. That is totally unacceptable. Let us see what happens in the next couple of games.

A win is a win…

This year, the best defense is a good offense - long offensive drives that keep the other team off the field and take time off the clock. Either that or score and score often.

You’re out of your mind if you think Michigan would fire a coach after going 3-0. That’s not to say he shouldn’t be nervous if he can’t get the team to step it up and win against some tougher opponents.

Obviously they aren’t going to fire him mid-season, but they might at the end of the year (after we get torn up from conference play). Our pass defense is just awful… even my friend from Japan was able to point that out. I don’t know if our defensive line will be strong enough to break through a Big Ten offensive line either. I just hope that our offense will be so strong that it will outweigh our shortcomings on defense. I was extremely disappointed by the defense’s performance against UMass, who seemed to be able to score and move the ball at will for large stretches of the game. If a div IAA (or whatever other conference they are) can do that against us, what can a Big Ten team do?

That being said, our defense has had its moments and shown potential… the only problem is keeping that level of play up throughout the entire game which we definitely haven’t seen. I’m gonna enjoy Saturday and then… hope for the best.

P.S. RR should run his 1-minute offense more often (see 1st minute before the half of the UMass game)

so I was reading this:

[BIG TEN OFFICIAL ATHLETIC SITE - Football](http://www.bigten.org/sports/m-footbl/stats/2010-2011/confldrs.html)

Enough said.

Looking at all that data is like drinking from a fire hydrant. What’s your point?

Look at Michigan’s ranking in the defensive stats, dude… that’s the point

Defence is brutal.

Robinson for Heisman.

That’s the story at UMich. Anways, GO BLUE!

The only stat that matters is 3 wins, 0 losses.

“It doesn’t matter whether the cat is black or white, so long as it catches mice”.
Deng Xiaoping

Was the only stat that mattered last year at this time 3 wins and 0 losses too? BIG changes need to be made or we’re screwed.

You people slay me. What kind of coach do you think your going to find that will come to a school that fires a 3-0 coach? Brian Kelly? Yeah, he’s really tearing it up at Notre Dame. Les Miles? The same Les Miles who knew Michigan wanted to interview him for the job and used that info to get an extension and raise out of LSU. You think some Urban Meyer clone is going to come here knowing that the admissions office nixed two 5-star d-backs for academic reasons? How are you all going to feel when Denard says, “If Rich Rod is fired I’m transferring”? This offense is built for him and he knows it; do you think he’s going to hang around while some new guy brings back the pro-set? Not dang likely. Fire Rich Rod and he’ll have a job within a month and Denard and Devin will be filling out the transfer paperwork before lunch the next day.

Yeah, the defense stinks, but I think it’s been more consistent than last year at least from the linebackers in. You want someone fired make it Greg Robinson. But, so far, the offense looks a heck of a lot more in-synch than last year and remember, you can’t beat what you can’t catch.

I still think they’re going to finish 7-5, but that’s a bowl and progress. If they go 6-6 RR is gone, if they go 8-4 he’s definitely back. Just remember that anyone new they bring in is going to rebuild his way and unless he’s a spread guy that means restarting again with guys like Denard and Devin most likely gone.
