WOW, I feel like have packed way too much, but know I am definitely missing something. Can those that have been through it chime in. What's the most important thing(s) you needed in first few weeks (supplies or otherwise). Thanks! Go Gators!!

I would say bring cleaning supplies to clean up your dorm or apartment, especially if you have your own bathroom in your room. Also, bring an ethernet cable to set up your internet on your computer.

You’ve packed already?

I feel like such a procrastinator.

Well, I haven’t packed/packed, but I sure hope I have purchased/purchased all I need to pack. I’m out of state and its going to take a day or two to get to G’ville. My move in date/time is Friday 8-10am.

Krivera - thanks for the tip! I’ve got the ethernet cable and no bathroom in my room to worry about.

Essential items for the first couple weeks:

Bedding: sheets, pillows, whatever mattress covering you may use, etc, pretty standard
Clothing: clothes (obviously), laundry detergent, dryer sheets, laundry basket, towels.
Cooking stuff: usually just plastic ware is fine for dorms, a few cups and bowls. Paper towels.

Electronics: an ethernet cable is not provided. If you have a TV you might want a longer connector cable in case it doesn’t reach. I would also get an extension cord and a multi-outlet extender. Theres only 2 plugs on the walls, I needed 5-6, so those are definitely helpful.

Thats pretty much the /essentials/, clearly you’ll want to bring some comfort items from home, but if you have pretty much what I listed you’ll be fine until you figure out exactly what you’re going to need personally.

Somewhat off-topic: Did freshmen get to choose their move in dates? Last year they were assigned times based on their last name.

Oh yeah you may want to get some types of easy foods to make to hold you over until you actually have the time to go to a grocery store to buy food.
@UF2015 We got to either make an appointment for anytime before 6pm or move in after 6pm on any of the days I believe.

Just chill and realize that there is a Walmart, Target, BBB everything in gville if you forget anything you can pick it there.

Thanks all…looking forward to the next 4 years in G’ville. Best of luck to you all.

I’d also suggest bringing a screwdriver, wrench, or pliers just in case you want to raise your bed up or down when you get there for storage purposes.
