I applied for transfer this year from Santa Fe into UF for economics, but was rejected. Then I applied for International Studies and was accepted this Fall. I’m excited but I am really dedicated to the idea of studying economics (preferably not Food and Resource Economics). According to this webpage [ https://www.advising.ufl.edu/academicinfo/duals-and-doubles/#ddeligibility ] on the UF Academic Advising Center’s site, I can’t double major in a major I was rejected from in my initial application. The actual stipulation states "Not have been previously denied admission to that major as a transfer student.”
So my question is this: Since I am now officially a UF student, will they reconsider this decision at all? I am considering just taking a bunch of econ classes anyways (and hopefully performing well) then approaching Advising about picking up econ as a second major. That way I’ll have some proven history behind me when I appeal. Anyone know how seriously this sort of policy is taken?
I just know what I want to study, and International Studies would be me compromising my desires. Hopefully this sorts out.
To receive a double major you must,
“Not have been previously denied admission to that major as a transfer student.”

Thou try contacting the advisers, I’m sure you can work something out.
@Atticus13 a friend of mine unsuccessfully attempted to do that when we transferred in together. Our economics department is small and underfunded (Phd students instruct a majority of the courses offered). Just take Econ classes with permission from Dr. Knight and tell future employers that you took them.
