First Floor Davidson, Unit 2 - Dangerous?

I've heard stories about students getting their things stolen by people climbing in through the windows.

Anyone have any input on this?

Uhh, no.

The windows can barely open.

Umm.. well I just passed my Davidson today and I can tell you, a thief is gonna have some time getting through the first floor windows. First of all, the windows aren't even reachable by jumping. Even Yao Ming would need a ladder to be able to pull himself up there. The first floor, after all, is technically on the 2nd story because of the ground floor. Second, one side of the building is facing College Ave., a pretty busy street, and the other is facing the courtyard, yet another busy place. A thief would get a lot of weird looks while he's carrying a huge ladder and climbing up one of the reshalls. Third, as vicissitudes said, the windows barely open. They are sliding windows, and they slide open maybe a foot. The thief is gonna have to be one helluva skinny dude to squeeze through.

So for Davidson, or for any of the other Unit buildings for that matter, I'd say you're pretty dam safe concerning thieves climbing through windows. You probably have heard these stories about Clark Kerr, where the dorm rooms are on ground level and it is very much possible for someone to climb in.

I think he ment the room on the ground floor. there's a big room that sometimes is used as a triple.

should i bring a safebox? haha... i'd die if i get my stuff stolen

Floor designations . . . sounds a lot like in Europe. In France, the first floor is on what we call the second floor.

jaynele -- I was kinda thinkin the same thing! I have a new computer and other stuff that I don't want people stealing, but want to keep my door open (while I'm in the room).

It's only dangerous if you're hot and vulnerable.

units are pretty safe imo since there are always people around and security's pretty good..
but i think foothill and clerk kerr can be dangerous.
my friend and her roommates got their stuff stolen at foothill before.
