Does anyone know what Georgetown considers first gen? Neither of my parents hold a 4 year degree and so far I’ve seen Johns Hopkins and Bowdoin (I think) define it as that.
You need to ask Georgetown about this. It really is OK to ask.
Frankly, it doesn’t matter. It isn’t something that you can change. Also, you will never get to the level of precision that you could say “I will apply to Georgetown if and only if they consider First Generation”.
@Eeyore123 I know this. I applied months ago and it’s my first choice. I was just asking out of curiosity, haha
It is something that is taken into account as part of the holistic review of an applicant’s background. It has also been a focus area for the school for awhile now, e.g., https://www.georgetown.edu/news/GSP-story-May-2017
@justliviglife While there is no precise definition of “first gen”, you meet the definition used by many colleges.
