First generation college student?

Wondering if my child would be considered a first generation college student-I went to a community college for about a year and a half. My husband completed a year long tech program at a communtity college. Question on scholarship application. One set of grandparents are college grads, as is an aunt.

Thanks!

My understanding is that if either parent attended any college of any kind then the student is not a first generation college student.

how is the question worded?
I would put that you attended a community college for __ credit
however, most questions are asking " do parents have a four year degree?"

It just asks the question 'Are you a first generation college student?' and there is a check box for yes or no. I feel as if she is....but then we did go as stated in my original post. confused....

First Generation College student means neither parent attended college. It doesn't matter if you graduated or not. You did attend so your child is not first generation.
