<p>fishymom is correct, it varies by school. But college applications don’t actually ask you if you are first gen, rather they ask what college(s) each parent attended and what degrees they earned (if any).</p>
<p>And that’s the easy solution…write that information on the application exactly as it happened and let the schools sort it out.</p>
<p>What people need to understand is that the first gen advantage primarily goes to URMs who live in poverty.</p>
