first language and the TOEFL

ok, for the common application and all other applications for that matter, it has a section asking about your first language if other than english...well, i learned both english and spanish at the same time and my mom told me that i actually spoke spanish before english (i didnt really know), so i put spanish as my first language on the applications i have sent so far. my problem is, some colleges require the english as a second language exam (TOEFL)...do i have to take that? i mean, i learned both languages at the same time so i have equal proficiency in both and i didnt realize it when i put it down that i might have to take another test but the applications don't have anywhere that i can put two languages down... i am freaking out, because i doubt i will be able to take that test in time for deadlines...on the SAT i got a 700 on the critical reading and a 730 on the writing if that helps, and i have also never gotten under an A in English...in my family, we speak both languages pretty much the same amount and we mix the two together a lot...and i was born in the US too...should i put it in the additional comments section? any advice?

since you grew up speaking it and went to school in the us, don't worry about taking it. colleges don't expect you to if you've gone to school in the us and have taken the sat's.

i mvoed to the us when i was 4 and started learning english in kindergarten..i asked my gc about taking the toefl and she also told me not to worry about it.

Your reading score is very strong so you might not need to for some colleges... However, some rule-bound colleges still require it
