On the app it lists "first language." Does that mean "first language I ever learned" or "language I am most proficient in currently"?

Thanks!

I think first language. then you can later specify which language you are most proficient or if it is about the same.

first language learned*

Ah, okay. Thank you. English is the language I am most proficient in, but Mandarin is my first language (and I am still fluent in it, just not terribly literate XD). So I’ll put Mandarin. I just didn’t want to accidentally condemn myself to having to take the TOEFL or something…

I may be wrong, but I think your first language is the language that you are most proficient in and you primarily speak, including at home. You might want to email them on this, but I’m pretty sure it will be English for you.

Hmm. You may be right; they have “first language” and “language you speak at home” separately, which might mean they’re trying to separate proficiency from taught-first (since immigrants/children of immigrants usually speak the language they were taught first at home). I’ll email them about it then.
